Christian K-12 prep school Donda Academy—which is based in Simi Valley, California and named after West’s late mother, professor Donda West—was closed effective immediately last Wednesday amid the founder’s storm of controversy. Per U.K. newspaper The Times, the $15,000-per-year school’s principal, Jason Angell, said in an email sent to the students’ parents that “at the discretion of our Founder, Donda Academy will close for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year effective immediately....

The Associated Press called the race for Hobbs, who currently serves as Arizona’s secretary of state, on Monday—nearly one week after polls closed. Lake’s loss is part of an underwhelming midterm for Republicans who did not win control of the Senate and are poised to win only a House majority—despite President Joe Biden’s low-approval rating and economic concerns surrounding inflation....

Republican Lake, who lost her midterm gubernatorial election to Democrat Katie Hobbs, filed a lawsuit in April alongside secretary of state hopeful Mark Finchem requesting Maricopa and Pima counties use only paper ballots during the November midterm election. U.S. District Court Judge John Tuchi had previously thrown out the suit in August, but in a ruling on Thursday he sanctioned the Republicans’ lawyers and ordered them to pay court costs in order to deter those who seek to file “similarly baseless suits” in the future....
