The team had placed Drouin on injured reserve on Saturday and said the 24-year-old sustained the injury during the third period of Friday’s 5-2 win over the Washington Capitals. The Nationals are reportedly closing in on a deal to that would bring Papelbon, 34, to the nation’s capital, according to Fox Sports. The only hitch, Papelbon will only approve the deal if he’s granted the closer role with the National League East leaders. Minnesota waived Harding on Monday, the same day he was activated from I.R.; he hasn’t played in a regular-season game because he broke his foot kicking a wall in training camp. He put up a .933 save percentage in 29 games before issues stemming from his medicaton sent him off course....
