Former Vice President Biden remained the frontrunner, with the NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll showing him beating out Trump by a margin of 51 to 42 percent, a lead of nine points. Sanders, an independent senator from Vermont, had the second largest win gap in the poll, beating Trump by seven points, 50 to 43 percent. With a five-point lead over the president, Warren, a senator from Massachusetts, would beat Trump 48 to 43 percent, according to the survey....

“Yes, my plan is to run for reelection. That’s my expectation,” Biden said during a press conference, the first the president has held since he took office. He was responding to a reporter’s question about why he had not yet set up a reelection campaign, as former President Donald Trump had already done by this point in his presidency. Later, Biden was asked if he expected to be running against Trump in the next election....

The latest survey published by The Hill and Harris X on Thursday found that 42 percent of registered voters said they would back Biden if an election were held today, while 40 percent threw their votes behind the president. A further 5 percent of voters said they would vote for a third party candidate instead of the Republican incumbent or his Democratic challenger. Four percent told pollsters they were not going to vote at all, and the remaining 9 percent said they were not sure who to vote for in November....

Biden told NPR’s Lulu Garcia-Navarro on Thursday that he would “move on” extending the temporary protected status program on his first day in office. That includes providing protections to Cubans in Florida, Biden said, prompting him to compare two minority groups. “What you all know but most people don’t know, unlike the African American community with notable exceptions the Latino community is an incredibly diverse community with incredibly different attitudes about different things,” Biden said....

That person is Joe Biden, several Democratic strategists told Newsweek. One of the reasons, the strategists explained, was because of Bloomberg’s billionaire status, which lends him the ability to self-fund his campaign. But more importantly, both of the 70-something-year-old white men draw from the same electorate: moderate voters. The strategists also said a Bloomberg candidacy has the likelihood to ignite the liberal base of the party and prompt more support for those such as Sens....

As President Donald Trump lashes out at the election process and refuses to concede, Biden on Tuesday publicly denounced the Trump administration’s efforts to eliminate the Affordable Care Act and vowed that his in-coming administration would expand access to quality, affordable health care. “This case represents the latest attempt by the far-right ideologues to do what they’ve repeatedly failed to do for a long time, in the courts and the Congress and the court of public opinion, over the last decade: to eliminate the Affordable Care Act,” Biden said....

In a Thursday afternoon address, Biden said he proposed meeting Putin in person, this summer in Europe, for a summit to address a range of issues facing both countries. He said that his team and Putin’s team are currently discussing the possibility. “If that summit were to occur, and I believe it will, the United States and Russia could launch a strategic stability dialogue to pursue cooperation in arms control and security....

New polling from The Washington Post and ABC News found just 37 percent of Americans approve of the job Biden is doing—a new low for the president a little more than one year into office. A majority of U.S. adults, 55 percent, said they disapprove of Biden’s job performance. Those findings were echoed in a survey from a Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll, first reported by The Hill, which showed Biden’s approval rating had hit an all-time low of 38 percent....

The president, who has been critical of Donald Trump for holding on to classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida, admitted Thursday to storing documents in his “home and personal library.” This came a few days after news broke about 10 classified documents that were discovered on November 2, just before the midterms, at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement, the president’s University of Pennsylvania think tank," according to CNN....

According to a new Gallup poll, Biden’s job approval rating in the fifth quarter of his presidency—which spanned from January 20 to April 19—was 41.3 percent. The only president since Dwight Eisenhower with lower approval during that time period was Donald Trump. Biden’s approval rating has been stuck in the low 40s for the past six months, a less-than-stellar sign for the Democratic Party as it aims to keep majority control of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections....

Players Sue Bird, Jewell Lloyd and Breanna Stewart presented Biden with a souvenir Storm jersey, with “Biden” and “46” on it, during Monday’s visit. Moments later, 6-foot-tall Biden kneeled so as not to block the view of those standing behind him, as he posed for a photo with the team’s players and coaches. The Democratic nominee attended a canvass kickoff in Philadelphia on Election Day. Speaking through a bullhorn while wearing a mask, the former vice president said “thank you” to supporters and said the city has been good to him throughout his career. “I tell you what: As goes Philly, so goes the state of Pennsylvania,” Biden said, prompting cheers from the crowd. “The turnout has been incredible, the job you’re doing is incredible....

Morning Consult found that Biden’s support among Democratic primary voters went from 19 percent on February 25 to 57 percent less than two weeks later. Biden was underperforming early in the primary season in each of the Democratic contests, placing fourth in the Iowa caucuses and fifth in the New Hampshire primary. Biden did place second in the Nevada caucuses, but only about 19 percent of the vote compared to Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders who received about 40 percent of the vote on his way to winning the state....

The presumptive Democratic nominee has previously shared a tax plan that analysts said could raise taxes by as much as $4 trillion over the next decade, with most of those taxes affecting wealthier Americans. “Nobody making under $400,000 would have their taxes raised, period. Bingo. Let’s get people back to work,” Biden said Friday morning during a CNBC interview. “My tax policy is based on a simple proposition: We should stop rewarding wealth and start rewarding work a little bit,” he said....

Joe Biden vowed to be “a president for all Americans” in his inaugural address, an event protected by a record number of National Guard troops for fear of further action by far-right pro-Trump groups. The president has urged unity and cooperation. But Republicans are skeptical, fearing Democratic overreach and erosion of constitutional rights. Biden has his work cut out to bring people together. A recent poll from the Pew Research Center found Americans can’t even agree that the January 6 attack on the Capitol was a serious event that warrants serious attention....

The secretary of state’s talks with Chinese officials in Anchorage will be the first face-to-face meeting since Biden’s inauguration, and come amid tensions between the White House and Chinese Communist Party over human rights abuses. Blinken is also due to meet with his counterparts from the other Quad nations—Australia, India and Japan—on Friday as the administration looks to establish a multilateral strategy to contain the authoritarian CCP. Blinken wrote on Twitter this week that he and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan would “engage on a range of issues, including those where we have deep disagreements” at the two-day meeting with senior official Yang Jiechi and Foreign Minister Wang Yi....

Democrats have pushed to eliminate or reform the filibuster so they can pass a voting rights bill without GOP support. The Senate is evenly split, and no Republicans have indicated support for the legislation. To reform the filibuster, they would need every single Democrat on board. While appearing on Fox News Sunday, Manchin, a moderate Democrat from West Virginia, said he “made no commitments or promises” on reforming the filibuster....
