Due to the issue, the entire card scheduled to take place at the Budweiser Stage in Toronto has been postponed. “We were forced to make the very difficult decision late [Tuesday] night to postpone the event due to learning that, despite our best efforts, several of the tournament’s international fighters would not be granted visas to enter Canada,” Eric Bentley, the chief operating officer of Evander Holyfield’s Real Deal Boxing said in a press release sent to Sporting News....

Nirosha Sithirapathy, 31, a lawyer at Oxfordshire-based pharmaceutical company PSI CRO UK Ltd, was told at the hearing by Judge Emma Jane Hawksworth that comments made to her by her boss Martin Schmidt did not amount to harassment, according to court documents seen by Newsweek. Sithirapathy also tried to claim that she was unfairly dismissed from her job, but the judge disagreed. “l am very disappointed by the tribunal’s decision and am considering lodging an appeal,” Sithirapathy told Newsweek....
Cole County Judge Jon Beetem ordered Parson’s administration to furnish the coverage to newly eligible adults, despite the governor’s defiance in doing so. The new participants will not incur any additional restrictions to get health care coverage through the program. Parson’s spokeswoman, Kelli Jones, in an email said the administration will “follow the law and will continue to look at how to operationalize the court’s order.” The decision is a major victory for advocates of Medicaid expansion under the terms of the 2010 federal health care law signed by President Barack Obama....
Judge Paul Novak made the ruling at a hearing in Lake County, Illinois on Friday. Novak granted the “extradition to Kyle H. Rittenhouse to the state of Wisconsin forthwith” after rejecting arguments from lawyers for Rittenhouse, who insist that the 17-year-old acted in self-defense. Rittenhouse appeared in court wearing a gray face mask, blue shirt and dark blue tie but did not speak as his lawyers claimed that there was not enough evidence that the complaint filed against him was properly sworn before a judge....
The decision comes in addition to the nationwide halt to the mandate issued by a federal judge in Georgia on Dec. 7. U.S. Magistrate Judge David Noce issued the ruling saying that the federal government can typically only set rules like wages, non-discrimination policies and employees’ rights for federal contracts. “The vaccine mandate would reach beyond the workplace and into the realm of public health,” Noce wrote. “The Court concludes that plaintiffs are likely to succeed on the issue of whether the mandate exceeds the scope of the power granted to the President” under federal law....
That, understandably, is a source for consternation. The atmosphere locally is not a positive one.
