Bucking the trend seen in a wide swath of national polls, the Harvard CAPS/Harris national poll recorded between October 29-31 shows Biden far ahead of Sanders and Warren in the 2020 Democratic primary. The poll, which questioned a national sample of U.S. adult voters about who they are “most likely to vote for in a Democratic primary,” found Biden with 33 percent of support compared to Sanders with 18 percent and Warren at 15 percent....

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders took second place in the poll with 20 percent while billionaire Tom Steyer placed third with 14 percent. Former South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg received 8 percent to take fourth place while Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar rounded out the top five with 7 percent. While Biden still holds a substantial lead over his opponents with 28 percent of voter support, the numbers show his lead has declined by nine points since the last ECU survey, which was taken before the Iowa caucuses....

It is a self-serving narrative pushed by those who profit from the status quo. To protect that system, they must hide Biden’s complicity in the sweeping destruction of our nation’s productive capacity. Biden has done little to reverse the deindustrialization of America during his more than four decades in public office. In fact, his record on China—both as vice president and well before then—makes clear his policies almost certainly accelerated the erosion of our nation’s manufacturing industry and offshoring of millions of good-paying jobs....

According to an AP-NORC poll, 56 percent of people disapprove of Biden’s stance on immigration, with 55 percent disapproving on the current border situation—the two worst readings of the issues included. Biden also had negative approval ratings on the issues of gun policy and the federal budget deficit. But his overall job approval rating was net positive, with 61 percent approving versus 38 percent disapproving of his presidency so far....

A majority of New York state residents don’t rate the president’s job performance as “good,” according to a Siena College Research Institute study released on Tuesday. Biden warned that Trump-supporting Republican extremists could set the country on a “sliding path to oblivion” during a Labor Day speech in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, on Monday. The president said that the former president wants to force the country to “look backwards,” while blasting Trump and his “extreme” supporters for refusing to accept Trump’s 2020 presidential election loss. “One of the things that is clear to me is that this new group headed by a former president, a former defeated president, we found ourselves in a situation where we’re either gonna look forward or look backwards,” Biden said....

The University of Southern California Dornsife Election “Daybreak” Poll, which tracks changes in Americans’ views throughout the presidential campaign, shows Biden with a lead of almost 13 points over Trump. The USC poll is significant. In 2016, when it was partnered with the Los Angeles Times, USC predicted that Trump would defeat former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton by 3.2 percent. Clinton won the popular vote by 2.1 percent but the Republican prevailed in the electoral college....
