The 31-year-old was awake and communicating with infield officials prior to his collapse. According to race officials, Newgarden was airlifted to the hospital only out of an abundance of caution. The drive to Des Moines Medical Center was a 30-plus mile journey. With heavy post-race traffic, medical officials wanted to ensure Newgarden was treated as soon as possible....

Reid accused the conservative judges of caring more about “right-wing politics” than keeping people alive after they voted down the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) mandate requiring businesses with 100 or more employees to ensure all staff are vaccinated against COVID or have weekly tests. The Supreme Court voted 6-3 against the mandate on Thursday, which was due to begin on Friday. The six judges who voted against the proposed plans were Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Samuel Alito, Amy Coney Barrett, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas....

Santos Laguna midfielder Uriel Antuna moved to City Football Group in a transfer announced Wednesday. Osorio had hoped to bring the 19-year-old to Russia to participate in training at the Confederations Cup like he did with defenders Edson Alvarez and Alejandro Mayorga. That wasn’t in the cards as the teenager took part in preseason with Santos Laguna in the United States before today’s announcement, but Osorio hopes the move will help boost Mexico’s depth....
“I made a mistake,” 31st District Judge Alexis G. Krot said in a statement Thursday. “I acted intemperately. I’m very embarrassed that I did so. I apologize to the person who appeared before me and to our entire community for having failed to meet the high standards that we expect of our judicial officers, and that I expect of myself.” Krot said she “self-reported” her conduct to the Judicial Tenure Commission, although she had “no legal duty” to do so....
Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Kenneth K. Lee commented on both films while ruling on a recent case involving ConAgra Foods and Wesson Oil. Lee used his opinions on the quality of the films to illustrate the concept of making promises that cannot be fulfilled. In the process, he also implied that he was less than satisfied with at least some of the Star Wars films that franchise creator George Lucas made before selling Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012....
This claim follows one against Rev. Jesse Jackson earlier Monday, with the defense attorney asking for the pastor to be removed from the court, saying his presence would cause unease amongst the jury. “As the judge said, it was my constitutional right to be there,” Jackson said. “It’s my moral obligation to be there.” Superior Court Judge Timothy Walmsley declined to have Jackson removed, saying he was not causing any disruption to the court....
