Harvick was set to drive from the No. 6 position on the starting grid. He is the race’s defending champion and among favorites this year. He was encouraged by his Friday work on the track. SHR posted this comment on Twitter: “That might be the best qualifying session we’ve ever had!”
But flu laid Harvick low on Saturday, and he was unable to enjoy a victory for his company. Kevin Harvick Inc. represents Meisha Tate, who won a women’s mixed martial arts title on Saturday.
SHR waved off a standby driver, and Harvick took the green flag for the Las Vegas race.
