Kevin Durant helped widen the rift with comments he made at his media availability during NBA All-Star weekend.

On Friday, Durant said the media had too much say-so in voting for awards. The same media that bestowed the prestigious MVP honor upon him last season.

According to The Oklahoman, the Thunder star took it a step further when asked about Scott Brooks’ job security as the Thunder’s coach.

Durant went on to speak about how his maturity has allowed him to be more outspoken about his distrust for the press. He acknowledged that he no longer tries to play the nice guy.

Durant was later asked what stories he would like the media to focus on more.

“To be honest, man, I’m only here talking to y’all because I have to,” Durant said. “So I really don’t care. Y’all not my friends. You’re going to write what you want to write. You’re going to love us one day and hate us the next. That’s a part of it. So I just learn how to deal with y’all.”

The reigning MVP has dealt with a lot of media criticism this season after stumbling through the first half of an injury-riddled season averaging 25.9 points, 4.0 assists and 6.6 rebounds in just 26 games.
