St. Louis appears to be content with Hitchcock after failing to win the Mike Babcock lottery. His contract was set to expire on June 30.

The Alberta native was named the 24th head coach in Blues history in November 2011. Hitchcock holds a regular season record of 175-79-27 and postseason record of 10-17 in his four seasons with St. Louis. He has lead the Blues to three 100-point regular season campaigns, four straight postseason appearances and two Central Division championships. 

Hitchcock, 63, is the fourth-winningest coach in NHL history with a 708-429-185 (.606) all-time regular season record.
