While Idelson is open to the idea, it appears the backward-hat plaque won’t be happening. Ultimately, the Hall of Fame has final say as to what hat players wear on their plaques, but the process starts with the player’s input.
According to longtime Reds reporter C. Trent Rosecrans, Griffey told him the backward-hat plaque isn’t happening.
An official announcement as to what Griffey’s plaque will be hasn’t been made, but it’s expected he’ll go in wearing a Mariners cap.
