George Conway is an American lawyer and former friend of Trump’s, before he became a vocal critic of the then-president in 2018. This was during a time when his wife was still working for Trump as senior counselor to the President.
George and Kellyanne got married in 2001 and despite having opposing opinions on Trump, they remain married today. George appeared as a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday night where he discussed Trump’s future.
“I think he’s going to be charged. I think he’s going to be convicted,” Conway told Kimmel.
Conway is a founding member of The Lincoln Project, a conservative Super PAC formed in 2019 with the intention of defeating Trump politically. He stepped away from the organization in August 2020 but maintained his support for the cause.
When asked about what Trump might be charged with specifically, Conway admitted there were a few options.
“Eeny, meeny, miny, moe, I mean, it’s really hard. I think the documents case is the one that’s going to kill him, the stolen documents case,” Conway said.
He went on to compare the situation of the FBI finding classified documents at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home to a mafia situation.
“Say you’re the United States Attorney of the Southern District of New York and you’re investigating the five families. And you’re trying to put together this massive RICO case. And you get this call from the NYPD saying, ‘hey, you know, the head of the five families? We just got him. He’s loading he was loading jewelry off onto a truck at Kennedy Airport, you got him dead to rights.’”
“I mean, he’s got the documents, they didn’t belong to him,” Conway continued. “He lied about them. He got his lawyers to lie about them. He defied a subpoena. And he did it for a year and a half. The only thing that could make it worse is if he FedExed some of them to Putin.”
Kellyanne Conway resigned from the Trump administration in August 2020 to spend more time with her family. George stepped back from his work commitments at the same time. Kellyanne said about her husband in a statement at the time, “George is also making changes. We disagree about plenty but we are united on what matters most: the kids.”
The Conways have four children, with daughter Claudia previously being a vocal opponent of her mother in her TiKTok videos because of her affiliation with Trump. In July 2021, Claudia stated that she and her relationship with her mom is “actually really good right now.”
