On November 28, 2016, Conway retweeted CNN declaring that Trump had won Michigan’s 16 electoral votes, bringing his total to 306. “306. Landslide. Blowout. Historic,” she wrote. MSNBC producer Kyle Griffin shared her tweet with today’s news that NBC was projecting the same number of electoral votes for Biden in this election.

So many people quote-tweeted Conway’s 2016 tweet to celebrate Biden’s win, using Conway’s words against her. One person replied directly to Conway’s 2016 tweet to praise Biden’s win. “Biden Blows Out Trump’s Blowout, Kellyanne! More Historic. Bigger Landslide,” he wrote, pointing out that Biden also defeated the president in the popular vote, which Trump also lost in 2016.

Another person said he expected Conway to make a similar statement about Biden’s victory. Someone else offered that perhaps Conway could speak to Trump about conceding. “[Y]ou need to convince your guy to walk away graciously & have one moment of putting country before self in his legacy,” she wrote.

Media Matters editor-at-large Parker Molloy joined in and used Conway’s words against her, but also noted that the final count for electoral votes were actually 304 for Trump and 227 for Clinton. Molloy also noted that “306 is not a landslide or a blowout.”

The American Independent editor Kaili Joy Gray shared an article that declared Biden’s win a landslide by Trump’s standards. Besides Conway, she named a number of other people who said that the 306 electoral votes win was a landslide: Donald Trump Jr., Ronna McDaniel, Jim Jordan, Reince Priebus, Sean Spicer, and David Bossie. A few people have also shared videos of Trump calling his 2016 win a landslide victory.

While not everyone has pointed to Conway’s now-infamous tweet, many people still praised Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris. Former South Bend Mayor and 2016 presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg simply tweeted “306”. Actress Mia Farrow shared the news and also dubbed it a landslide. Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey celebrated Biden and Harris as well as all those who offered support.

“With 306 electoral votes secured and a more than five million popular vote lead, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have buried Donald Trump in a landslide. Thank you to the organizers across the country who worked so hard to deliver this historic victory. We are in your debt,” Markey wrote.
