Stafford, whose husband is Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, took to Instagram with an impassioned diatribe railing against the state of Michigan for administering a three-week lockdown period amid a spike in COVID-19 cases.

Stafford’s complaints seem multifaceted: She’s both disappointed that the state of Michigan has entered a three-week restriction period to help control the rise of COVID-19 cases — apparently limiting her personal freedoms, hence the “dictatorship” accusations — and the effect that another lockdown might have on the small businesses of the state.
I see all these people and it, brings me, like, to tears. Believe me, I know there’s people out there that are stating, “That’s really ignorant of you, how could you say that?” Listen, I know not everybody’s gonna agree with me. Not everybody’s gonna agree with my every move I make. That’s life, OK? We state our opinions, we move on. This is my opinion. I feel for these small businesses — It’s not that I don’t feel for the people that have COVID or hospitals, I do. But this is my opinion: I do not like living in a place where they tell me what I can and cannot do. I live once — again, this is my opinion, you have yours, everyone has their own, and we chalk it up to that.
Stafford followed her plea for small business by posting a video of shopping in what appears to be a Target store.
Stafford also called for her followers to provide names of worthy small businesses to offer support during the lockdown.
Michigan’s coronavirus cases have spiked over recent weeks, reaching a high point of 12,000 cases reported on Nov. 16. The United States surpassed 250,000 coronavirus deaths earlier this week, per Johns Hopkins University.
Matthew Stafford was placed on the NFL’s coronavirus list in August, prior to the start of the season, but the test was later deemed a false positive.
