In a tweet, Lake, who lost her midterm gubernatorial election to Democrat Katie Hobbs, endorsed the MyPillow CEO and conspiracy theorist to replace current RNC chair Ronna McDaniel, along with former Trump campaign attorney Harmeet Dhillon.
Lindell, one of the most frequent and prominent pushers of the false claim that Trump lost the last presidential election due to widespread voter fraud, confirmed in November his intentions to run for RNC.
“Wish we could elect TWO Chairs for the RNC. We have GREAT candidates in both Harmeet Dhillon & Mike Lindell,” Lake tweeted on Tuesday, December 13.
“President Trump saved the Republican Party—it’s time for the GOP Leadership to stand up and Fight for US!”
Lindell has said that he would not take a salary if elected as RNC chair.
“I would not take a paycheck from the RNC. I’d put all the money back into it,” Lindell told Insider on December 6. “If I’m running it, the money that goes to it will actually go to doing good.”
Dhillon also confirmed her intentions to run for RNC chair during an appearance on Tucker Carlson Tonight on December 5.
“Republicans are tired of losing, and I think that we really need to radically reshape our leadership in order to win,” Dhillon told Carlson.
“We can’t keep running elections like we did in the ’90s and the 2000s, and we really have to modernize to compete with the Democrats dollar for dollar in the ways they fundraise, the way they deliver their ballots to the ballot boxes.”
However, both Lindell’s and Dhillon’s campaigns appear set to end in defeat.
McDaniel, who is seeking a fourth term as RNC chair, already has the public backing of more than 100 of the 168 committee members, giving her the majority needed to clinch another term.
Lindell is being sued by Dominion Voting Systems for $1.3 billion after the MyPillow CEO constantly made false claims that their machines were used to rig the 2020 election in favor of President Joe Biden.
Lindell also had his phone seized by the FBI in September as part of an investigation into alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election results in Colorado. Lindell himself is not charged with a crime in connection to the federal probe.
Lake filed a lawsuit on December 9, asking a court to throw out certified election results in Arizona and declare her the winner of the gubernatorial election over Hobbs.
Newsweek has contacted Lindell for comment.
