The Kardashians star, 42, and the rapper, 45, met in the early 2000s but didn’t start dating until April 2012.
“I met him I think in 2002 or 2003,” Kardashian told host Ryan Seacrest during the 10th anniversary special of Keeping Up With the Kardashians (KUWTK), which aired in September 2017. “He was recording a song with Brandy, and I was her friend.
“I vividly remember hanging out with him, and then they did a video together, so I’d see him a few times. He was asking his friends: ‘Who is this Kim Kardajan?’ He didn’t know what my name was.”
The pair went on to date other people over the next decade. In August 2011, the SKKN by Kim founder married NBA star Kris Humphries but famously filed for divorce just 72 days later.
Following their split, Kardashian said that her uncoupling from Humphries brought her closer to “Stronger” artist West.
“Right before I got married to Kris Humphries, [Kanye and I] were talking, and I just went a different direction. I think I had to go through that to figure out what I wanted,” Kardashian said in the same KUWTK anniversary special.
“After my breakup, I was feeling really low and down and he said, ‘Just come to Paris and see my fashion show.’ He jokes that he put on this whole fashion show just to get a date with me,” Kardashian added.
“So I went there and I stayed with him, and that’s where we started dating. I swear from the moment I landed, I fell madly in love with him and I thought, ‘Oh, my God, why didn’t I do this sooner?’ Like, this is what real life is like—love and fun and real support.”
The A-listers got married in May 2014, and Kardashian filed for divorce in February 2021. By November 2022, this was finalized.
The exes share four children together—North, 9, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 3. According to documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, West—who legally changed his name to Ye in 2021—will pay $200,000 a month to Kardashian in child support.
On Tuesday, verified Twitter user @StockzNCrypto quote-tweeted a post from @SaycheeseDGTL that read, “Kanye West & Kim Kardashian have settled their divorce. Kanye will pay Kim $200K a month in child support.”
“18 years, 18 years, She got four of yo’ kids, got you for 18 years,” @StockzNCrypto added, referring to Ye’s “Gold Digger” lyrics.
At the time of publication, the message racked up more than 155,000 likes.
In the song, West raps, “18 years, 18 years / She got one of yo’ kids, got you for 18 years / I know somebody payin’ child support for one of his kids / His baby momma car and crib is bigger than he is.”
People were quick to take to the comments, with many suggesting the Grammy winner “manifested” his future.
“Power of the tongue is insaneeee,” one person wrote in a comment, which racked up nearly 5,000 likes.
“Music can be a powerful manifestation method,” another user tweeted, while a third agreed, “He really manifested his whole life.”
“This tweet has been sat in the drafts of hundreds of millions of people for a decade,” a fourth tweeted, while a separate user added, “Man predicted his future in his song.”
