The short film, entitled Last Week, was posted on YouTube not long after West’s Twitter and Instagram accounts were restricted due to his controversial posts. Fans who view the documentary will get an inside look into the hip-hop superstar’s hectic personal and business life, as well as hear unreleased music.
Last Week also contains a fair share of controversial moments, from references to Drake to an extremely awkward meeting with Adidas in which West shows an executive a porn video.
Below is a list of the top five most shocking moments in the documentary.
- The Video Game Opening
While most of Last Week plays like a homemade video of random scenes filmed with a handheld camera, the movie begins with a video game-like opening sequence. In it, a masked figure completes various tasks on the streets of Japan while wearing Yeezy-style clothing.
The game ends with the character finding an animated white dove on top of a roof. “Mission Completed” is scrawled across the screen before the words give way to a logo that reads: “War.”
2. A New Song References Drake and Others
While riding in a car, Ye listens to an unreleased track in which he raps about other stars, including Drake. (The two men have had a long-running feud.)
“You a fake bch/ You don’t really love Ye/ Go listen to Drake, bch,” Ye’s voice is heard saying over a beat. “Listen to Lil Baby/ Listen to Future, b**ch.”
The song appears to be uncompleted as some verses have lines that are mumbled with incoherent words.
3. Ye Plays a Porn Video for an Adidas Executive
After various scenes that includes Ye watching a video on his phone about nutrients and plants, he is seen in an uncomfortable meeting with executives from Adidas. The film doesn’t make clear whether the scene was filmed before or after Adidas announced its partnership with West was under review following his “White Lives Matter” provocation.
Early in the meeting, West shows a pornographic video on his phone to one of the executives, claiming the executive’s voice sounds similar to the adult actor’s in the clip. The executive—whose face is blurred out—eventually pushes West’s phone away.
After the tense moment, a member of West’s team discusses allegations that Adidas has been using West’s fashion ideas for its standard clothing line. The team member says that “when someone steals this man’s [West’s] ideas, his creations, it’s like you’re stealing a child. These are all children of his mind, and you’ve kidnapped them.”
West refers to himself as “the king of the culture” while warning the Adidas representatives about the company using his ideas without permission.
4. Ye Lays Out Donda University’s No Air Conditioning Rule
Last Week also shows West checking out a potential location for one of his Donda Academy Christian schools. As he tours the space, he explains that it would need “Dondafying” and gives a “couple rules to Donda.”
These rules include no artificial lights since Donda schools would only be using natural light. West also says they wouldn’t be using the building’s air conditioning system and ramps would be used instead of stairs. While speaking of the stairs, West adds that there would be “no bars” around them while pointing to stair railings.
5. Kim Kardashian Makes a Cameo
Last Week ends with West attending daughter North West’s basketball game. His ex-wife Kim Kardashian is seen with him on the sidelines, but any words the two exchange are not heard due to the segment’s audio being muted.
Newsweek reached out to West for comment.
