The rapper had been planning this event for a while, and invited some pretty big names to the event. He invited basketball/meme legend Michael Jordan, but the Nike shoe giant declined, per a text revealed on Twitter.

West has his own Yeezy line with adidas, and has been beefing with Nike for a while. The rivalry was heightened with West’s end-of-2015 song “Facts” where he claimed, “Yeezy, Yeezy, Yeezy just jumped over Jumpman.”
All of this history led to a moment during Yeezy Season 3 where the crowd engaged in a “F— Nike” chant. ‘Ye approved of the message, but shut things down once he heard someone say “F— Michael Jordan.”
“Not f— Michael Jordan, Michael Jordan is our boy,” West replied. “I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for Michael Jordan. Respect Jordan.”
