Thornton and Kadri squared off and exchanged punches less than two seconds into the Maple Leafs’ matchup with the San Jose Sharks at the Air Canada Centre. The fight occurred directly after the game’s opening faceoff.

Thornton and Kadri each landed one big punch and both ended the fight falling to the ice. Both players received five-minute major penalties.
Kadri has tallied 13 goals and 10 assists for Toronto this season, while Thornton has totaled 27 points to lead San Jose.
The Maple Leafs went on to top the Sharks 3-2 in a shootout. Kadri registered his 14th goal of the season midway through the second period.
