The eight-time defending champions, however, could reclaim top spot on Saturday, when they host Hellas Verona a few hours before Inter plays A.C. Milan.

Juventus coach Maurizio Sarri is expected to ring the changes after his side drew 2-2 away against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday, in the opening game of its Champions League campaign.

Summer signings Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot could be handed a first start, as could Paulo Dybala, who has fallen behind Gonzalo Higuain in the pecking order.

Sarri has only utilized 20 players so far in the first four games of the season, but might have to rotate his personnel more comprehensively as Juventus plays five games in the next 15 days.

The good news for Sarri is that two of those games are against newly promoted sides, in the shape of Hellas Verona and Brescia.

That should allow Sarri to make changes to his team without running any particular risks. The Juventus coach, however, must address his side’s tendency to throw away leads in close games.

On Wednesday, the defending Serie A champions took a 2-0 lead against Atletico Madrid but had to settle for a draw after conceding twice in the last 20 minutes.

That came just two weeks after Juventus had relinquished a 3-0 lead at home against Napoli and needed a late own goal to win 4-3.

Juventus shares second place in the table with Bologna, two points adrift of league leaders Inter Milan after drawing 0-0 away at Fiorentina last week. On Wednesday, the Bianconeri relinquished a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 away against Atletico Madrid in their first game in the Champions League.

Verona, meanwhile, has got off to a reasonably solid start to its first campaign back in Serie A, picking up four points in the first three games. Last weekend’s 1-0 defeat against AC Milan was its first of the campaign.

Juventus is without Douglas Costa, Danilo who all came off injured against Fiorentina.

Giorgio Chiellini was ruled out for at least six months with an ACL injury earlier in September and joined long-term absentees Mattia De Sciglio, Marko Pjaca and Mattia Perin on the sidelines.
