Curiously enough, it was Jefferson’s own Minnesota teammates who kept him from breaking out a fake injury celebration. Jefferson’s attempted celebration occurred after he scored a 22-yard touchdown to open the scoring and put Minnesota up 7-0 in the first quarter.

Video of the post-touchdown celebration shows Jefferson faking an injury to his right hamstring before a couple Vikings come over to share in the celebration — particularly tackle Brian O’Neill:

Jefferson’s attempted celebration was in homage to Lo’eau LaBonta of the National Women’s Soccer League’s Kansas City Current. Hers was a viral celebration after a goal for Kansas City in mid-August:

Either way, it’s cool Jefferson, who also brought the “Griddy” into the public consciousness — found inspiration in the NWSL. Next time, he’ll have to let his teammates know ahead of time to get out of his way and let him get to work.
