The sixth-year outside linebacker received a four-year, $41.5 million contract extension last September from the Saints, who later admitted that was a mistake because of Galette’s numerous off-the-field issues.
Galette, who had 22 sacks the past two seasons for the Saints, signed a one-year, $745,000 contract with the Redskins and was expected to boost Washington’s pass rush following the departure of Brian Orakpo to Tennessee.
