About a year later he was suspended indefinitely by then head coach Art Briles after he failed a drug test and tested positive for marijuana. This history is important, because in a new video for UNINTERRUPTED, Gordon talks about his past struggles, including how the Baylor coaches handled his initial encounter with police.

The receiver says his coaches enabled him, and even helped him pass drug tests.

So if his coaches were helping him, how’d he end up failing a test? Gordon explained that by saying at the time his mindset was, “I’m out of detox drinks. Where is coach with my drinks? Not enough time, got to take a drug test, failed the drug test.”

The host asked him, “So you failed the drug test because the coach didn’t come by with the detox drinks that time?” Instead of blaming the coach, Gordon blamed himself.

“I failed the drug test because I was getting high,” he said.

Gordon explains a lot about his life in the show, which lasts for over 13 minutes. He also clarified that even though he has this rep of smoking weed, he was addicted to a number of drugs.

“I’ve used alcohol on many, many occasions, Xanax on many occasions, cocaine several occasions, marijuana most of my life, codeine, cough syrup, methazine — very prevalent where I’m from. It’s what I grew up using,” Gordon said.
