Abreu first mentioned the idea after the All-Star Game in Minneapolis and is adamant about achieving the goal.

“I love everything about it,’’ Abreu told the Chicago Sun-Times. “That is probably the best anthem I have heard. I don’t know the meaning of the words yet, but I like the way it sounds. But I have to learn the English perfect."

Part of Abreu’s reasoning for loving the anthem so much is because it belongs to the country in which he’s gotten the opportunity to play major league baseball. If he has the pipes and the bravery the least we could do is give him a chance. It couldn’t be worse than Roseanne’s rendition.
