Posada, promoting his new book “The Journey Home: My Life in Pinstripes,” talked about his comments on Boomer and Carton Thursday. He apologized for his comments and felt he was “cornered” into his response.

“I tried to text him yesterday,” Posada said of Rodriguez. “I feel like I was cornered into this answer. I know better. I was really caught off-guard.”

Rodriguez didn’t seem too stressed about the comments when he was asked about them Wednesday. He took the high road and said he still views Posada as a friend. Still, Posada feels bad about what he said and doesn’t want A-Rod to get the wrong impression.

“He knows how I feel about him,” Posada said. “And I would like to — if I caused him anything, I would like to apologize. … I felt like the guy kept pushing towards that response, and I should have known better.”

Posada said his book “is not a controversial book,” but so far he’s caused a bit of a stir. An excerpt from his book was released earlier this month and Posada discussed how the Yankees “hurt” him during his final year with the team.
