After reports and speculation on the nature of the injury, Moxley confirmed on Twitter that he is suffering from MRSA, an infection in his elbow that he reportedly got while wrestling in Japan. Moxley released this statement to his more than 781,000 followers.
Moxley continued, “I apologize to all involved, most importantly the fans. I am incredibly frustrated and pissed off. I’ll have surgery this week to remove the bursa sac in my elbow and be done with it for good. Should be a quick recovery so I will be 100% for AEW Wednesday nights on TNT.”
The first AEW live show on TNT is set for Wednesday, October 2.
The former Dean Ambrose was set to take on Kenny Omega in a highly-anticipated bout in Chicago. Moxley caused the wrestling world to erupt when he surprisingly arrived at the end of Double or Nothing, All Elite Wrestling’s first show to attack Omega following his loss to Chris Jericho in the main event.
Omega would get his revenge on Moxley following “The Death Rider’s” victory over Joey Janela at Fyter Fest.
All Elite Wrestling was quick to announce PAC as Moxley’s replacement for All Out. PAC was set to make his AEW debut at Double or Nothing to take on Adam “Hangman” Page, but some “creative differences” stemming from PAC’s apprehension to losing clean while still holding the Dragon Gate championship forced AEW to put Page in a show’s Battle Royale to determine the first number contender for the AEW Championship, which he would win.
The current All Out has eight confirmed matches so far:
