Ironically, Gruden has turned down the position with Tennessee twice. He said no to the Vols in 2009 after Phil Fulmer resigned under pressure, leaving behind a crumbling program. He rebuffed Tennessee again in 2010 after Lane Kiffin jumped ship from the program to coach at Southern California.
With Butch Jones turning Tennessee around, Gruden will likely have to wait a while before a potential third offer comes his way.
