We’re beyond teachable moments with Manziel, the man-child whose level of maturity and apparent lack of common sense appear to be roughly equivalent to his on-field production. In a word, spotty. The best thing that happened in Monday’s incident? No one was injured.
Good thing for the Browns, eh? Just as it’s good that Josh McCown, a 36-year-old journeyman, continues to play better than Manziel, a 22-year-old former first-round pick.
Manziel spent 10 weeks in a rehab facility for people with drug and alcohol problems. He apologized in an April statement issued by the Browns.
But did Manziel learn anything? Monday’s incident is at best a mistake involving an alcohol-impaired outburst. At worst, it’s Manziel making another bad decision involving drinking and driving. No laws broken? So what?

Apparently, Manziel was back in go-fast mood on Thursday. In a commentary piece for The Chronicle-Telegram of Lorain County, Ohio, Browns beat writer Scott Petrak describes yet another incident of Manziel behind the wheel — this one on Thursday. Petrak reaches this conclusion.
If the Browns don’t want to hand Manziel his release, maybe they should send him back to rehab. Another two months might make him see just how badly he behaved.
Of course, if the Browns did release Manziel another team would scoop him up. Making him someone else’s problems would solve nothing.
