By the end of July 1, the first day of free agency, teams had committed more about $1.4 billion in new deals, ESPN calculated. That number, of course, doesn’t include players who have signed since then, like LaMarcus Aldridge and DeAndre Jordan.

It’s enough to leave a person dumbstruck, and that’s exactly how John Wall sounds in this nugget offered to the Washington Post on Tuesday.

True enough, Wall is indeed working off a five-year, $80 million deal that he signed two summers ago, identical to the one Jackson just got from the Pistons.

Setting aside the obvious implied insult in his quote, though, the Wizards’ All-Star point guard insists he is pleased for all of his brethren who cashed in this summer.

“But I’m happy for those guys,” Wall told the Post. “To see anybody get the opportunity to live their dream out … that’s a blessing.”
