Doctors found a slow-growing tumor during examinations for a disc problem. Friday’s surgery came on the day Tifft was to drive at Daytona. David Ragan replaced him, starting the Xfinity race from pole position before finishing 21st.
On Saturday, Tifft posted an image of where doctors cut into his head.
Tifft, Erik Jones and Daniel Suarez drive Gibbs cars in the NASCAR subseries, although Kyle Busch often takes the No. 18 car instead of Tifft.
