Jim Mcmahon To Have Number Retired At Byu

McMahon enjoyed a prolific two-year stretch with the Cougars from 1980-81, in which he totaled 8,126 passing yards and 77 TDs. He is completing his degree at BYU after 37 years.

He’s still best remembered for leading BYU to a comeback win against SMU in the 1980 Holiday Bowl. The Cougars trailed 45-25 with four minutes left, but McMahon led three TD drives and threw the game-winning Hail Mary to Clay Brown as time expired.
