Mlive.com reported that Harbaugh told players he wasn’t leaving Ann Arbor and that people were trying to sabotage him and the Wolverines program by tying him to the now-open LA Rams job.

“He said (the NFL rumors) are ’lies made up by our enemies,’ " Wolverines defensive Ryan Glasgow told the website.

And who might those enemies be? Well, Harbaugh had a ready answer for that, of course:

Harbaugh’s biggest enemies right now are in Columbus, East Lansing, Happy Valley and, oh, yeah, Tuscaloosa.

The only problem with thinking the rumor started with a Big Ten (or SEC) program is that his college rivals didn’t need to spread it; plenty of NFL types long ago made the short speculative leap. Some have openly campaigned for him to return west now that Jeff Fisher is out as Rams coach.

BENDER: Rumors will persist, but it’s not time for Harbaugh to go

Harbaugh has restored his alma mater to national championship contender status in just two seasons. Figure on him making a few more attempts to win the College Football Playoff, then maybe looking elsewhere for the next challenge.
